Golden Nuggets: Blaine Making Great Case For Himself

Entering December, the 49ers are mathematically not out of the playoff picture. But they are not going to the playoffs. This will more than likely allow Jim Tomsula another year to be the team's head coach. The team is playing hard enough where the front office will give him another season to see if they can play better next year. One of the reasons for this is the play of Blaine Gabbert.

Blaine Gabbert is making a good case to be back next season as the Niners' starting quarterback. Reports surfaced that the Niners are open to bringing back Colin Kaepernick, but most people agree that it would only happen if Colin took a major pay cut and that's probably not going to happen. The team will have to find a quarterback in the draft for the future, but at least Blaine gives them a chance to groom the rookie quarterback while learning from the veteran Gabbert. As a high draft pick who needed a 2nd chance, he could have a tremendous impact on a rookie QB learning in the NFL.

In the injury department, TE Garrett Celek has been put on season-ending IR with a high ankle sprain. He was having his breakout year and he could be an important piece for the team's future if he resigns. As far as running back Carlos Hyde is concerned, it's looking more likely that he will not take part in any more games this season. Healing from a stress fracture in his foot and with nothing to play for, it seems like the Niners would rather him heal this offseason and trot him out next season. That would be the best course of action. He's going to be an important piece of the team for many years to come.
