The 2015 salary cap could end up a little higher than expected. According to Adam Schefter, the NFL's salary cap could be between $140 million and $143 million. This is notable because back in December, Jason LaCanfora said the cap was expected to be between $138.1 million and $140 million.

After LaCanfora's report, the NFLPA called BS on the number, suggesting the league was sand-bagging on the figure. A lower estimated cap would leave teams waiting when it comes to extending their own players because they would not know exactly where they stand. They still don't know exactly where they stand, but the picture is likely becoming a bit clearer.

The cap goes into effect with the start of the 2015 league year, which will kick off on March 10. We will likely hear other details about the cap as the final figure is determined between now and that Tuesday. Who knows exactly where it will end up, but it appears there will be more room for everybody. The 49ers are not a team likely to make a big splash in free agency, but a few extra bucks is always welcome!
