Mel Kiper mock draft 2.0 2015: Breshad Perriman will likely will see draft status change until Pro Day

New, comments

Mel Kiper put out his second 2015 NFL mock draft a week and a half ago. We can already see where changes will occur following the 2015 NFL Combine.

Last week, Mel Kiper posted his latest 2015 NFL mock draft, and it is now outdated. I suppose that is not shocking, but it had nothing to do with Combine results. Kiper had the 49ers selecting Central Florida wide receiver Breshad Perriman. However, according to Perriman's agent, he has been medically excluded from Combine workouts. He suffered a hamstring strain, and will work out on March 25 at UCF.

One of the bigger sleepers in the 2015 draft class at this point, Perriman is a player I've grown to really like as I've spent more time going through his tape. At one time I had him as a likely second-round pick, but now I see him as a close call in terms of overall ability next to the top few wide receivers in this class. He's got size, and strength, and is going to run really fast at the combine and be a guy who can both stretch defenses vertically and also make plays over the middle and in traffic. He's also got great bloodlines, as I scouted his father (Brett) when he played for Miami. (Brett was a really good in the NFL, too.) It's pretty obvious the 49ers are thin at wide receiver, and that's even if they bring back Michael Crabtree, which is no guarantee.

The wide receivers wrapped up their work on Saturday, and it is safe to say we'll see some adjustment in mock drafts. In Kiper's mock draft, he had the following receivers going in the first round.

4. Amari Cooper - Raiders
11. Kevin White - Vikings
12. Devante Parker - Browns
15. Breshad Perriman - 49ers
18. Devin Smith - Chiefs
31. Phillip Dorsett - Seahawks
32. Devin Funchess - Patriots

As you can see, he does not have Dorial Green-Beckham in the first round. DGB has put together a solid Combine, capped by a 4.5 40-tim that is quite impressive for a guy his size. I have to think Kiper moves DGB into the first round after his performance this week. It would make sense for Kiper to put something together shortly after the Combine reflecting updates on rumored team needs and how players comported themselves in Indianapolis.
