NFL Combine 2015: Time, how to watch online and DL, LB prospects for Sunday, Day 3

New, comments

We provide prospect links, how to watch information, invitee list, combine schedule, and some players of note performing in drills. Sunday features defensive linemen and linebackers. Who do you want the 49ers to draft? Who is your sleeper?

Day three of the Combine features defensive linemen and linebackers. Both of which figure to be positions of need for the 49ers as they'll look to replenish depth. You can check out my defensive linemen and edge rusher prospect rankings for an idea of the top prospects at each position.

I'd expect big days from the big names today; Leonard Williams, Dante Fowler, Jr., Shane Ray, etc. Keep an eye on Arik Armstead. Armstead is already considered a first round pick by some (myself included) and should really solidify that stance with good performance today.

One of the best parts of the day will be watching the "big uglies" come within an inch of their lives as they run the 40 yard dash and go through agility drills. I'm talking of course about the defensive tackles like Eddie Goldman (6-4, 336lbs), Jordan Phillips (6-5, 329lbs), Danny Shelton (6-2, 329), and Ellis McCarthy (6-5, 339). I joke but some of these giants are incredibly athletic and would be welcomed additions to the 49ers front.

If you're looking for some under the radar names to watch keep an eye out for DE/LB Lynden Trail from Norfolk State. At 6-7, 269lbs Trail has the size and length that impress and should do well today showing off his athleticism.

Xavier Cooper (Washington State) and Carl Davis (Iowa) are two other DL prospects that could be on the 9ers radar. Both have size, strength, and versatility to occupy the 5-technique end or kick inside to man the nose.

I expect the 49ers scouting department to be quite busy today.
