2015 NFL Combine results: Top DL, LB performers from Sunday

The 2015 NFL Combine saw defensive linemen and linebackers work out on Sunday. Here are the top results.

The 2015 NFL Combine is just about a wrap. Defensive backs will go through drills on Monday, but in the meantime, defensive linemen and linebackers took care of business on Sunday. This is always a difficult one to organize, because there will be quite a few defensive linemen making the transition to outside linebacker.

The San Francisco 49ers have made repeated use of this type of player. Aldon Smith and Aaron Lynch both made that transition, and really you could go back to Manny Lawson's transition back in 2006 (doesn't it seem like so much longer ago?).

This year, the 49ers are in a fairly good position at outside linebacker. If they release Ahmad Brooks, Aldon Smith and Aaron Lynch would be starting, and Corey Lemonier would be available as a backup. They could try and extend Dan Skuta, but they could also add a transition project a little later in the draft.

On the other hand, the defensive line is enough of a question mark that they will need to address. Even if Justin Smith returns, they are likely to add some defensive line depth earlier rather than later. Glenn Dorsey, Ian Williams, Tank Carradine, Quinton Dial, Tony Jerod-Eddie, and Kaleb Ramsey will all compete for playing time, but the long-term remains a bit cloudy. There is talent there, but nothing jumps out as, "he'll clearly be here for the next five years." We certainly have hopes for guys like Tank, but we just don't know.
