NFL Combine 2015: Time, how to watch online and prospects for Monday, Day 4

New, comments

Monday morning features defensive backs in action at the NFL Combine. We have a rundown of notable prospects, and how to watch on TV and online.

The last day of the combine is here. Monday features defensive backs taking the field in Indy. The 49ers are set at Safety next year with Eric Reid and Antoine Bethea being reliable options as the last line of defense. Cornerback however, is a different story entirely. With Perrish Cox and Chris Culliver both set to become free agents, the situation at cornerback for the 49ers is murky and uncertain at this moment here in February.

This is a stacked class of corners, with many of the main options having a height north of 5'11". While the 49ers should be focusing on a receiver in round one, Trent Baalke is unpredictable each and every draft. If I was to be, my guess would be receiver in round one, then a cornerback in round two or three. I'll buy a crystal ball on Ebay and get back to you guys.

The combine has already produced the fastest times since 2006, and there's no reason to think that cannot continue today. Yesterday, the defensive backs took part in the bench press, and USC's Josh Shaw put up a whooping total of 26. Today is where speed and technique are at the forefront. And personally, I love the drill portion of today's workout. The physical aspect isn't there of course, but you can tell a lot about a corner from the technique displayed during the drills.

There are many big names to keep an eye on, with their height being big too. Trae Wayne's (6', Michigan State), P.J. Williams (6', Florida State), Marcus Peters (6', Washington), Jalen Collins (6'2", LSU) are some of the big names to watch. Others of note are Kevin White (TCU), Ifo Expre-Olomu (Oregon), and Quentin Rollins of Miami (Ohio). Out of those names, the only players known to have met with the 49ers is Marcus Peters.

We will have cornerback rankings later in the week. For now, who are your favorite corners in the draft? Should the 49ers invest an early round pick on the position? Or fill the need through free agency first and foremost? Let's hear your thoughts and who you are lobbying for the 49ers to snatch come draft day!
