2015 NFL Combine results: Top DB performers from Monday

The 2015 NFL Combine wrapped up on Monday with defensive backs running through drills. Here are the top results.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The 2015 NFL Combine is officially a wrap! The defensive backs ran through drills Monday morning, marking the final group to go through. The San Francisco 49ers sent a handful of coaches to the Combine, including defensive backs coach Tim Lewis. I didn't watch the Combine today, so I'm not sure if he was helping with defensive backs drills.

Defensive backs often provide some of the most astonishing physical performances. They usually lack the hands of receivers, but their athletic gifts are impressive. One player who had a great day was Connecticut cornerback Byron Jones. He was unable to run the 40, but he did some great work in the drills in which he did participate. The most notable had to be the broad jump. He set a record, becoming the first player to ever surpass 12 feet. He also jumped over 3 feet, 8 inches in the vertical leap. Here is a Vine of his performance:

It is worth noting, he also finished fifth in the 3-cone drill, third in the 20-yard shuttle, and first in the 60-yard shuttle. Those will not shoot him up the draft board, but if they were unexpected (and a record-breaking broad jump strikes me as a bit unexpected), it could get scouting departments taking a second look at his game film. That is one thing of value we can take from the Combine. It potentially leads to more film review.
