The focus of the next NFL season is now squarely on Santa Clara, CA. The brand new Levi's Stadium will host the 50th Super Bowl in 2016. Jed York's baby will be the talk of the town when the people stream into the Bay Area. The 49ers will want to be an active participant in the league's showcase game at their own home stadium.
To have any chance of a playoff spot next year, the 49ers will have to forge a home field advantage at Levi's Stadium. The team ended this season 4-4 at home and that doesn't work in this league. Teams have to win at home to set themselves up for the playoffs. Before this year, the Niners were 19-4-1 in the dark confines of Candlestick Park the 3 previous years. They will have to make Levi's a place that is tough to play in. It will take some time.
There are reasons to believe the Niners can make a run at the Super Bowl. First is health. Can the team be any worse injury-wise this season? I don't think they can. Man after man were getting injured and missing multiple games. We know NaVorro and Willis will be back. Those 2 alone just make Niner fans happy. Second is the amount of talent this team has. They are still one of the more talented teams in the league. The biggest piece to a potential run to a Super Bowl is the play of their QB. Kap has to have a bounce back season. He's extremely talented and can change a game. He needs to be that guy. He's the key. Hopefully Kurt Warner is molding that key.
