Jordan Cameron does not want to re-sign with the Cleveland Browns

New, comments

The Cleveland Browns are a train wreck right now, and it has free agents wanting out. What will happen with Jordan Cameron?

The Cleveland Browns seemed to be turning a corner earlier this season, but things have quickly returned to the normal nonsense. Josh Gordon failed a drug test (alcohol), Johnny Manziel has entered rehab, and now the team might face a fine or get docked a draft pick for front office people texting the coaches during the game. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

In light of all this madness, it should surprise nobody that unrestricted free agent tight end Jordan Cameron reportedly wants out of Cleveland. Cameron is an incredibly talented tight end, who could find himself earning big money on the open market. The tight end market includes Cameron, Julius Thomas, Charles Clay and Jermaine Gresham.

Cameron would seem to be right behind Thomas on the market, but one has to wonder how his concussion history might impact his market. I bring this up because there is always the off chance the 49ers might be in the market for a tight end. We don't really know where Vernon Davis will be come 2015. I suspect he sticks around another year, but you never know what the 49ers will look to do to clear cap room.

Behind Vernon, the team has Vance McDonald, Garrett Celek, Derek Carrier and Asante Cleveland. They could very well head into the 2015 season with that group, but turnover would not be entirely surprising. If they decided to invest in other tight ends, I suspect it would be through the draft and further down the food chain of tight ends. But Cameron is an interesting name, and a name that I have to think will be connected to a variety of teams.
