The San Francisco 49ers announced Tuesday morning that Patrick Willis is in fact retiring from the NFL. Willis seemed to state as much on social media on Monday evening, and this makes it officially official.
Willis will be available to the media at 12 p.m. PT today, and it will air live on 49ers.com/live. CSN Bay Area announced they too will broadcast the press conference, so I embedded their live stream at the top of the page. If that embed has any problems, you can also check HERE.
It will be interesting to see what Willis has to say about his decision. I'm sure he will get some questions about his toe injury, and if that played a factor. Other than that, I don't imagine this will be particularly long. I'm not sure how much there is for him to say at this point, but we'll see. Even in support of his decision, it will be tough to watch.
