Frank Gore officially agrees to terms with Indianapolis Colts

And just like that, Frank Gore is gone. The 49ers all-time leading rusher has signed with the Indianapolis Colts.

Fooch's update: Apparently it's "Agreed to terms" and not "signed"

The Indianapolis Colts made it official. Frank Gore has signed a contract to join the team as their next starting running back. Reports today have it as a 3-year, $12 million deal, with $7.5 million guaranteed, although Adam Schefter is now saying it is $8.5 million.

The Colts offensive line has had some questions, but Gore will benefit from playing with Andrew Luck. While I think Colin Kaepernick still has a ton of upside, Andrew Luck is rapidly climbing the ladder of best quarterbacks in the NFL. Luck's consistency will open holes for Gore as defenses will not be able to focus in on one aspect of the offense.

As a 49ers fan, I can live with this. Gore heads to the AFC, and he has a legitimate shot at winning a Super Bowl. He is signed for three years, and while I would be surprised if he lasted those three years, it puts him in a position to make a climb up the NFL all-time rushing leaderboard. He is currently 20th with 11,073 yards, leaving him 163 yards behind O.J. Simpson for 19th place.

This is obviously not a "Frank Gore" website, but we will keep track of him as he continues his career in Indianapolis. He is the 49ers all-time leading rusher, and can continue to work his way toward the Hall of Fame if he can keep it up with the Colts. I know in some ways we should move on, but with Gore at historic levels for his career, I'll be keeping an eye on him.
