Chris Culliver to sign 4-year deal with Washington

And just like that, Chris Culliver is an ex-49er. The cornerback has worked out a deal with Washington.

And the domino drops. Ian Rapoport is reporting Washington will sign former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver to a four year deal. Jason LaCanfora is reporting Culliver will get upwards of $8 million per year. Culliver was in Washington Thursday, and it would appear they got a deal done.

The cornerback market had some big names up top, but it is not overly deep this year. The 49ers could still figure something out with Perrish Cox, but there seems to be enough interest in him that it probably does not happen. Trent Baalke mentioned the team was working on some things at the position, but it remains to be seen what that will entail. My guess is they take a flier or two and then potentially add another cornerback in the draft.

I think the odds are pretty good Tramaine Brock, Dontae Johnson and Jimmie Ward are the three starting corners (Ward at the nickel) come Week 1, but we'll see if they go high on a corner in the draft. And of course, they do still have guys like Keith Reaser, Kenneth Acker, Leon McFadden and others that will be competing for opportunities over the next five months.
