Good morning! We are entering week two of free agency, following a weekend in which the San Francisco 49ers were rather active. The 49ers signed four players, including cornerbacks Shareece Wright and Chris Cook, running back Reggie Bush, and offensive lineman Erik Pears (pronounced Peers).
The first few days of free agency are the first phase with a lot of the big names signing. Chris Culliver and Perrish Cox got us into that second phase of free agency. They are notable names, but not quite as known quantities. Now we move on to phase three with names further down the depth chart.
The most interesting piece of news is not related to free agency. Well, not entirely. Free agent defensive tackle Ray McDonald, released by the 49ers after a sexual assault allegation, is suing his accuser. The DA's office has not said whether charges will be filed, but McDonald's attorney said they were informed they will not be filed. The last article gives some details of the lawsuit. If they prove true, it makes sense to file the lawsuit given the impact it has likely had on his attempts to land with a new team.
