Fooch's Update: He has a visit with the Dolphins!
Pro Football Talk is saying that a source indicated Michael Crabtree is one of a few wide receivers seeing little or no market in free agency. The source mentioned Hakeem Nicks in connection with Crabtree, and then PFT mentioned Reggie Wayne and Wes Welker as receivers not getting a sniff.
This is not a shocking development given how we have heard next to no rumors, but it is still fascinating. There have been some rumors connecting him to the San Diego Chargers and Washington, but those have remained fairly slim. And given the Chargers signing of Stevie Johnson, they are potentially out of the picture.
I did not expect Crabtree to get a sizable deal this offseason, but I also did not expect there to be virtually no market for him. We don't know what his agent has put out there on his behalf, and that would potentially clarify the situation. For example, if Crabtree was demanding a multi-year, multi-million dollar deal, that might turn teams off who are looking for a short term option with him. Crabtree might need to sign a one-year prove-it deal to get the kind of opportunity he wants.
There is also the fact that young receivers can be had cheap in the draft. It is also possible Crabtree (and those others) waits this out and signs with a team after injuries start to happen in training camp. For now, the wait continues.
