Golden Nuggets: Chris Borland shocker continues to dominate the news

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning everyone. The 49ers as well as the rest of the NFL are still reeling from the shocking retirement of the 24 year old Chris Borland. It is always difficult as a fan of a team to know how to react in situations like this. On one hand, the team is what I watch on Sundays, so I'm disappointed that they lost a good player that had a bright future. On the other hand, as a human being, I completely understand and respect the decision he made. My Grandfather Harlan used to play in the NFL. It was in the 50's and he only played very briefly with the Baltimore Colts, but the totality of all the other years playing football cut his life and the quality of it, short. I have seen what a prolonged football career (even if it is not at the NFL level) can have on a person and his loved ones. Anyone who has the opportunity to make an absurd living and decides it isn't worth it will get no criticism from me.

In other news, the 49ers finalized the Reggie Bush signing yesterday. I think it could be a good signing, but the big question with Reggie Bush is always health. Another concern I have is how he might be used. Reggie Bush is best utilized as a versatile weapon out of the backfield, that includes catching the football. I don't know what the Tomsula and Chryst offense will look like, but Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman seemed to have zero interest in throwing to Frank Gore. We're all hoping Carlos Hyde can bust out into a feature back, and having a healthy Reggie Bush as a change of pace can only help. For all of our sanity, lets hope that we can go the next week without someone else retiring or getting arrested. To the links!
