The San Francisco 49ers brought in free agent cornerback Sterling Moore for a visit on Wednesday, but he has decided to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Moore visited with the Bucs last week, and also visited with the Steelers on Tuesday. Ian Rapoport reported the signing, but there are not contract details yet.
The 49ers have a pretty large number of cornerbacks on the roster. They added Shareece Wright and re-signed Chris Cook over the weekend. Even if we factor in Ward as a safety and not a cornerback, the 49ers have nine corners on the roster. Considering they went into 2014 training camp with eight cornerbacks, it seems likely they will not add many more cornerbacks.
Given the turnover of Perrish Cox and Chris Culliver, it makes sense to have more as they figure out the depth chart. However, I would not imagine too many more will be added. Maybe a draft pick and a UDFA?
