The Niners have been reportedly bringing in veteran players to shore up key positions of need. They are bringing in former NY Giants WR Hakeem Nicks. Nicks used to be a good WR, but I prefer the team look to the draft for this position. There seem to be few good receivers that could be drafted at the Niners position. Speaking of FA WRs, Michael Crabtree still remains unsigned. Every day that he remains unsigned is another day that he could potentially resign with the Niners. I prefer resigning Crabtree over signing Hicks. At least we have seen that Kap and Crabtree have built some chemistry with each other.
The Niners have been in talks with Lance Briggs and are reportedly bringing in Philip Wheeler for a visit. With the LB position officially a position of need, able bodies are needed. I have always been a fan of Lance Briggs, but I'd be happier with Wheeler. Wheeler would probably be a more productive player at his younger age. The team could shore up the LB position in the later rounds of the draft. The Niners could groom a draft LB to take over in a year or two. CB and WR are more needed at this point.
