Golden Nuggets: 49ers making moves prior to free agency

So the San Francisco 49ers signed defensive lineman Darnell Dockett, wide receiver Jerome Simpson and managed to restructure the contract of outside linebacker Aldon Smith. Of course, he's still being paid a boatload of cash, but if he has any more off-the-field issues, he can be released without a cap penalty and that's just swell.

Not only is that great for the 49ers, I think it's a good step for Smith and his maturation. There's a lot of money on the line, and a lot of potential future money as well. I'm not privy to his exact thinking or anything like that, but it would seem to come from that kind of place, right? Hopefully. Anyway, maybe it's due to the massive disaster that was the first chunk of this offseason, but things are looking solid right now.

That doesn't mean Simpson or Dockett are going to have an amazingly huge impact or anything. But I think their signings are coming from the right place. Onto your links!
