Tracking San Francisco 49ers 2015 NFL free agency rumors, news and updates

Welcome to our San Francisco 49ers 2015 NFL pre-free agency rumor tracker. We'll be tracking all those rumors that come out about the 49ers over the next few days, as they will potentially be flying fast and furious. Things kick off on Saturday, March 7 at 9 a.m. (PT) when the "legal tampering" period begins. This period allows teams and agents to begin discussions and contract negotiations. Players are not allowed to make visits during this time, so it is all talk for now. Players can visit and officially strike any deals beginning Tuesday, March 10 at 1 p.m. (PT) when free agency actually begins.

The plan is to post new articles for each of the various rumors. Those will flow through the cover for people to discuss as the news and speculation happens. However, this thread will include links to all that content, and I will pin this article into the cover. The idea being that discussion can continue to flow in here as news and speculation arrives, but then the specific follow-up articles can allow for slightly more focused discussion on that given piece of information.

Depending on how fast this thread fills up with comments, we will create new threads as needed. When free agency gets here this coming Tuesday, we will have a new free agency specific thread regardless of how many comments are in this one. In the meantime, here is a rundown of where things stand as we head into the negotiation period.

The 49ers have not signed any of their own unrestricted free agents, but they have taken care of some other business, getting deals done with their restricted free agents and exclusive rights free agents:

• Team sign LS Kyle Nelson, TE Garrett Celek to contract extensions

The 49ers also have signed three free agents that were available before the new league year:
