49ers could be interested in Greg Hardy, per Jason Cole

The San Francisco 49ers have apparently gone full-on crazy. The latest rumor has them connected to Greg Hardy, and I don't know what to say anymore.

The San Francisco 49ers offseason has been one crazy piece of news or speculation after another. Apparently we can add one more bit of crazy to the mix. The team apparently has made it known they are interested in former Carolina Panthers pass rusher Greg HardyBleacher Report's Jason Cole said that Hardy will have a hearing with the NFL on Tuesday to find out if he will be suspended. Cole then said that teams interested in Hardy included the 49ers, Falcons, Jaguars, Titans, and Colts.

This news came out earlier today, and since then, we have learned that fullback Bruce Miller was arrested last week on misdemeanor charges of spousal battery. Hardy is currently on the commissioner's exempt list following his domestic court case. He was found guilty in a bench trial after assaulting and threatening to kill his girlfriend. Hardy appealed to a trial by jury (a quirk of North Carolina law), but charges were later dropped when his ex-girlfriend effectively disappeared and thus could not testify against him. The whole thing is just a whole lot of crazy.

This is just one rumor, so who knows what will happen, but clearly the timing of that along with the Bruce Miller news is just insane. And yet, we have reached a point where I don't think anything should well and truly shock us anymore. Bill Simmons talked about the "Tyson Zone", which is a point when you can hear news about a celebrity, and it will no longer surprise you. It happened with Tyson back in the 90s, and it feels like the 49ers crossed that threshold at some point today.
