The San Francisco 49ers are continuing their search for cornerback options in the upcoming 2015 NFL Draft. The team is bringing in LSU cornerback Jalen Collins for a visit early this coming week, according to FOX Sports NFL reporter Mike Garafolo. Collins would be the fourth confirmed official visit involving a cornerback.
Collins stands 6'1 and weighed in at 203 pounds at the NFL Combine. He ran a 4.48 40-yard dash, and is viewed by many as having a strong combination of height, weight and speed. He does not have a ton of starting experience, but that also seems to indicate a player with more upside than players with a little more experience.
Collins has been mocked at the end of the first round in a few mocks I looked up. If those prove remotely accurate, he might be a guy the 49ers move back to get, or potentially move up for from their second round pick. It would be significantly cheaper to draft at No. 15, and then move up from their second round pick. That is one trade option that hasn't been discussed a whole ton. Maybe that's where we see them pounce on a talent that slips?
