2015 NFL schedule release: Who should 49ers open against?

The NFL schedule is expected to be released April 23. How do you see the 49ers schedule shaking out?

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The 2015 NFL schedule release is just around the corner! Pro Football Talk is reporting the current plan is to release the schedule on Thursday, April 23. They said that date could change, but that is tentatively what we are looking at. The NFL will turn it into the usual primetime spectacle, which will be preceded by rumors throughout the day.

We have not heard much in the way of San Francisco scheduling rumors. The most notable is that the team requested back-to-back road games, and have become approved to host weekday primetime games.

As we wait for April 23 to get here, does any game jump out as a potential season opener? This has been a weird offseason, to say the least. It's hard to know how the NFL views the 49ers in terms of putting together optimal televised programing. Last year, the 49ers opened with the Dallas Cowboys, and the two previous seasons they faced the Green Bay Packers. They got a lot of coverage in primetime, and in the big afternoon game in many weeks. I don't really know what to expect from the scheduling this year.

What would make sense to you as the 49ers kickoff game? Will they get five primetime games, or will the league cut back? My guess is they get four or five, but who knows what the perception is.
