Six years ago, the Oakland Raiders skipped drafting college football's best receiver in Texas Tech's Michael Crabtree. This year, they will finally unite. Michael Crabtree is signing a one year deal reportedly for $3.2 million dollars. The signing likely gives the Niners a compensatory pick in the 2016 draft. Most people thought that Crabtree would sign with another team, but didn't think it would take this long to do so.

Michael Crabtree was highly unlikely to ever return to the Niners after the team's signing of Torrey Smith. He would have been #2 or #3 on the depth chart. The Niners receiving corp is looking good, but not great. I still expect the team to use their 1st round draft pick on one of the big name receivers. After missing out on a great receiving class last draft and the NFL turning into a pass happy league, the team can't miss out on quality receivers again. With the #15 pick in this year's draft, there will be good receivers to be had.

This past weekend, Kap talked about the new look backfield with Frank Gore no longer on the team. He's confident the players they have can do well to make up the production that Frank took with him. With Hyde looking like a very capable back and Kendall Hunter coming back from injury, I have optimism that the post-Gore era will be smooth. It will take awhile to replace everything Frank meant to the team, but the players are capable of making up for it. Carlos Hyde flashed his ability when he was able to play and Kendall made up a dynamic duo with Frank when he was healthy. It is not all doom and gloom Niners fans.
