Golden Nuggets: 49ers host local pro day two weeks before the draft

Good morning everyone. On this day two weeks from now, the NFL draft will finally kick off and the endless speculation that will all end up being mostly wrong can finally end. Yesterday, the 49ers hosted a local pro day featuring 65 of the prospects from local universities that may not be in the national spotlight. But the most interesting thing to come from the event was Trent Baalke's session with the media. He talked on a number of issues including Justin Smith's lack of a decision and how it will affect their draft strategy.

The most interesting tidbit of info from Baalke had to be Aldon Smith. In an off season of terrible news, Aldon Smith appears to be a bright spot. He is apparently showing great work ethic and being a leader in the off season program. I was very encouraged to see this on twitter yesterday, and it sounds like he is doing great work with the team as well. He is such a talented player and it would be a shame if off the field issues stopped him from realizing his potential that could very well see him in Canton if he has a few more years like his rookie and sophomore campaigns.
