The San Francisco 49ers signed Blaine Gabbert to a 2-year contract extension this offseason, but as the 2015 NFL Draft approaches, they still only have two quarterbacks on the roster. The team could end up simply signing a couple undrafted free agents, but they are also looking into potential draft options. The team met with Colorado State quarterback Garrett Grayson at the Senior Bowl, and now it sounds like they have had some contact with Oregon State quarterback Sean Mannion:
Oregon St. QB Sean Mannion (Pleasanton) has spoken with #49ers throughout pre-draft process: Senior Bowl, combine, pro day.

The 49ers have been in touch with a variety of players during the pre-draft process, and they will not draft most of them. It would not surprise me if they decided to go with a quarterback on day three. Gabbert is signed for two years but it makes sense to bring in another younger option. A day three pick would be an inexpensive developmental option, so it makes a lot of sense.
