It was relatively quiet couple of days for the Niners. But not for the NFL. Monday came the decision from the league office about Deflategate. The Pats were fined $1 million, lose their 1st round pick next draft, a pick in the 2017 draft, and Tom Brady will be suspended 4 games. Seems hefty for the crime committed.
Colin Kaepernick responded to the Deflategate debate on Twitter over the weekend. He tweeted "No football in the world is going to help you win by 38. Let it go and let Tom be great! On to the 2015 season." And he is right. That game was not close. The Colts didn't lose because Tom had deflated footballs at his disposal. They won because they were better.
In other news, the team is reportedly still interested in free agent LB Lance Briggs. A local of the Bay Area, Lance had been on the 49ers radar before. This time, the 49ers do not have to battle the Bears for his signature. The Bears are reportedly not going to resign him. The 49ers are free to sign him and they really need to just for the depth. With the uncertainty of the linebacking corp, the more bodies the better. Once a strength is now an unknown.
