The San Francisco 49ers are officially on the board in round four of the 2015 NFL Draft. The team has three picks in the fourth round, and with No. 117 overall, they drafted Oklahoma tight end Blake Bell.
The 49ers have Vernon Davis and Vance McDonald starting at tight end, with Derek Carrier and Garrett Celek behind them. Davis had a bad year in 2014, while McDonald had back problems. Tight end is not a shocker, but we'll see how quickly Bell gets into the mix. Here is what NFL.com's scouting report has to say about Bell:
A newly converted tight end who was a short-yardage specialist and red-zone brute for the Sooners as a quarterback. Bell was looked over by scouting community during the regular season, but he has flashed sure hands and shown improvement as a blocker and could have an NFL future if a team is willing to be patient with him.
Our friends at Over The Cap have put together rookie pool estimates. For this pick, the 49ers will be giving Bell approximately a $439,220 signing bonus. The total value of the deal will be approximately $2,719,220, and the first year cap number would be approximately $544,805. We'll get specific confirmation on these numbers later this summer.
