Good morning everyone. Minicamp is in full swing, and the 49ers finished their second day yesterday. One of the themes from the links is that there is a whole lot of speed on offense and that is one thing I am definitely looking forward to. Under Jim Harbaugh, it seemed like the entire roster was made up of physical players that were shifty, but would have trouble winning a sprint against many players. With Torrey Smith, Reggie Bush, Jerome Simpson, and probably a few others who don't come to mind, the 49ers have added some serious speed on offense. With a QB like Colin Kaepernick who has such a cannon for an arm, I really want to see what he can do with some real deep threats which - for some inexplicable reason - there have been none of in his time in the NFL.

Another of the big topics over the past few days is the retirements on the 49ers. With the unprecedented amount of retirements from relatively young players, and the story a few days ago about Eric Reid, this is certainly turning into an epidemic. What is weird with Eric Reid, is that he is the only one that isn't all that shocking with his more publicized history of concussions. As for the idea that the 49ers front office is responsible for the retirements, ridiculous. These players have been playing football for the majority of their lives, and they are going to leave because a coach they liked was treated poorly? Sorry, I can't buy that logic. Anthony Davis is not paying the 49ers back more than 4 million because he doesn't like Jed York.

Its just the 49ers right now, but I really think this is going to be the new reality for the NFL. Injuries that guys would shrug off ten years ago are now going to lead to early retirements. There will always be gladiators, but as players become more knowledgable obout their futures, there are going to be more and more Chris Borland's and Anthony Davis's. To the links.
