Golden Nuggets: 49ers sign OL depth

New, comments

Good morning everyone. The 49ers finished their minicamp the other day and most importantly, did not suffer any more injuries in the process. Due to Anthony Davis's shocking retirement, the 49ers find themselves short at OT. They rectified the absence by claiming Sean Hooey off waivers from the Jets. I wouldn't expect him to start at RT this season - I'm still betting on Alex Boone - but the depth is good for the remainder of the off season program.

A faster pace on offense was something I thought we would see this season, but it has steadily been confirmed over the last several practices. One of my few complaints with Harbaugh was his stubborn insistence on using every last second off the clock. It sort of worked for the first few years, but despite taking several annoying delay of game penalties, the 49ers rarely held a large advantage in possession. Some of it, especially last season, was offensive incompetence. But I think some of it was due to a difficulty in getting into rhythm with long stops in between every play. I'm not expecting or wanting Oregon's offense, but no delay of games and a nice, steady rhythm on offense would be nice.  To the links!
