49ers sign three players, waive two players following minicamp

The San Francisco 49ers announced a handful of roster moves following the close of last week's mandatory minicamp. Earlier today, we wrote about the team waiving offensive tackle Chris Martin. The team made that move official, as well as one other waiver and three signings. The team waived UDFA wide receiver Darius Davis, and signed offensive lineman Ben Gottschalk, kicker Corey Acosta and wide receiver Mario Hull.

The 49ers three-day minicamp closed out the offseason workout program, and gave them a better handle on where their young players were showing up. Davis signed with the team shortly after the 2015 NFL Draft, but clearly did not do enough to get a shot in training camp.

The 49ers have officially filled out their 90-man roster with these moves. Here are some details on the new additions, courtesy of the 49ers PR department:

Gottschalk (6-5, 293 - SCOUTING REPORT) originally signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent on May 19, 2014. He was waived on August 27, 2014 and was later signed to the team's practice squad on September 1, 2014, before being waived on September 9, 2014. He was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on April 8, 2015, and was later waived by the team on May 28.

A 23-year-old native of Sherman Oaks, CA, Gottschalk played collegiately at Southern Methodist University, appearing in 47 games (24 starts) along the offensive line.

Acosta (6-0, 190) joins the 49ers as an undrafted free agent from the University of Southern Mississippi. He finished his collegiate career with 43 field goals made and 201 points. As a senior in 2014, he set career highs in field goals made (19) and total points scored (78).

A 23-year-old native of Memphis, TN, Acosta attended Christian Brothers (Memphis, TN) High School.

Hull (6-1, 200 - PLAYER SPOTLIGHT) joins the 49ers as an undrafted free agent from Rice University. In three seasons with the Owls, he registered 61 receptions for 901 yards and eight touchdowns. In 2014, Hull set career highs in receptions (32), receiving yards (621) and touchdowns (eight).

A 23-year-old native of Altair, TX, Hull attended Altair Rice Consolidated High School.
