The Minnesota Vikings have been in the middle of a stand-off with star running back Adrian Peterson, but it appears there is at least a temporary resolution. ESPN's Josina Anderson is reporting Peterson is in Minnesota and set to report for OTAs on Tuesday. He had been sitting out looking to get more guaranteed money in his contract. There had been rumors he wanted a trade, but last week he clarified it was about getting more security with Minnesota.
This certainly does not guarantee Peterson will be at training camp, but odds seem pretty good at this point that he will show up in late July. This is noteworthy for the San Francisco 49ers because they face Minnesota in Week 1. Had the 49ers faced the Vikings later in the year it would have been less of an issue, but the chance of a holdout into the season seemed at least moderately possible. Instead, the early indication is Peterson will be in the starting lineup come Week 1.
The 49ers have lost their last three games to Minnesota, and five of their last six. The last two losses were in Minnesota. This year, the 49ers will host the Vikings on Monday Night Football to open the game.
