Golden Nuggets: John York doesn't not want helmets... or something

New, comments

Thursday, June 5, 2015 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of 49ers links from around the web.

Bob Stanton-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning everyone. So if you guys remember, my last Nuggets had to do with John York's comments on the league possibly abandoning the helmet in the future. I don't know exactly if he is denying he said that, but now he is backtracking a little. I think. He still maintains a lot of his main points, but I guess the end game he envisions is no longer playing without helmets. He may have been pressured into backtracking because frankly, there is just no way the league is ready for such a drastic change now or in the immediate future. I can imagine the league getting to that point, but a lot has to happen and a lot has to not go wrong before it can get there.

We're really bare on links today so I'm going to choose now to say farewell. I will still be doing these for probably the next week or so, but as I'm sure a lot of you saw in Fooch's call for writers, I am leaving the site. I recently got my BA and thankfully got hired without being unemployed too long. Between that and continuing on to grad school, I just really don't have the time. Not only to stay up and write these, but to always stay up to date with what the team is doing. Recently, that is to say the last half a year, I have noticed that I struggle with finding the time to do that. This is a great community, and  more than anything, I feel that the people who contribute here owe it to you all to be able to keep up with what is going on with the team and the league. Because of that I am leaving the site. I have enjoyed my time here and would like to thank Fooch for giving me the opportunity to do this. As well as all the readers for not driving me out with torches and pitchforks. I'm sure whoever replaces me will do a great job, probably much better than me. To the links!
