Caesars Palace has 49ers 4-point favorites against Vikings

The San Francisco 49ers are a favorite for Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings. It should be an intriguing matchup considering some of the Vikings offseason additions.

The Minnesota Vikings welcomed back Adrian Peterson to OTAs on Tuesday, which means odds are pretty good that he will be playing for the team Week 1 when they travel to face the San Francisco 49ers. And speaking of odds, we have another line for the game.

When the NFL schedule was released in April, the LVH SuperBook released Week 1 lines. They initially installed the 49ers as a 3.5-point favorite against the Vikings. We now have another line courtesy of the Caesars Palace sports book.

The 49ers are sitting as a 4-point favorite at Caesars. I would imagine Caesars released the line after the schedule came out, so I do not know what the line was like previously. It is close enough that it probably has not changed a whole lot. And the return of Adrian Peterson to practice likely did not change much. A team gets approximately 3-points as a home favorite, so this indicates limited confidence in them at home against Minnesota.

The sportsbook is not getting a ton of money at this point in the offseason given how much could change between now and Week 1. There will be injuries that impact the starting line, big performances in the preseason from unknown players, and even a potential Bruce Miller suspension to factor in. None of these things might happen, but to bet on a game now is always a little bit odd.

The Vikings are an intriguing team as they head into year two of the Teddy Bridgewater era. They are getting a lot of discussion as a potential playoff team. They face questions on defense, and spent their first three draft picks this year trying to improve that group (CB Trae Waynes, LB Eric Kendricks, DL Danielle Hunter). They could represent a very solid first week challenge when they face the 49ers under the lights of Monday Night Football.
