Good morning and all that, but I just can't shake the feeling that this off season has all been just a bad dream. Anthony Davis announced his retirement yesterday, continuing the trend of 49er players opting to care for their futures at the expense of their playing careers. But what sets Davis apart from his forerunners Patrick Willis and Chris Borland, is that he is giving up a lot of money to do this.
Shocking, and even more interesting is that he is actually leaving the door open to a return in a few years. As for how this affects the 49ers now, Alex Boone is a more than capable replacement at RT, in fact I would not be surprised at all if he thrives there. But if Boone shifts to RT, all of a sudden there is a gaping hole at RG. I suppose that Marcus Martin or Daniel Kilgore could play guard, and It is possible that Trent Brown could play tackle leaving Boone at RG. Whatever happens, I just hope that we can have some good news some time in the future. To the links.
