Golden Nuggets: It's Officially Gone

Wednesday, July 1st, 2015 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from the Internet

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

It's official. Candlestick Park, the former home of the 5 time Super Bowl champion San Francisco 49ers, is gone. The last section was torn down Tuesday. The video posted of the section being torn down is a little depressing. The drive on the 101 will be a lot different without that stadium in the view. It stood out on the drive and now the stadium will be replaced by residential and business developments.

The place known as 'The Stick' hosted great memories. The Catch 1-3 were there. Some of the best players in NFL history called it home. It hosted legendary games that went down in NFL lore. But it fell behind the new NFL. Teams were building state of the art stadiums and Candlestick's tenure was coming down to the end.

Candlestick Park will hold a special place in Niners fans memories. Some had a love/hate relationship with it. Some had a love/love relationship with it. Either way, we celebrated there or we celebrated events that happened there. And those will never be gone!
