The San Francisco 49ers are a little over three weeks away from the start of training camp. We just wrapped up a look at the 49ers bubble watch, position-by-position. Now, I thought we would take a look at the salary cap information for each position. Jason Hurley put together the tables with cap information for each position, and I have added some thoughts as well.
Before we get into the details, a brief explanation of the table. The first number is the player's cap number for 2015. The second is remaining fully guaranteed money on their deal. The third and fourth are dead money and cap savings this year if a player is released before the end of the season. The final two columns are for players released next offseason, but not as a June 1 cut.

The 49ers cleared some sizable cap space with the decision to draft Bradley Pinion and trade Andy Lee. That leaves the 49ers with 2/3 of their specialists on rookie contracts. The big remaining question is Phil Dawson. His $4,134,000 cap hit is the ninth biggest on the 49ers roster, and he is due to hit free agency once again after this season. He will be the 49ers kicker in 2015, but I highly doubt he is on the roster in 2016. He remains a very capable kicker, but his price tag is reaching a point that is just too high.
It is hard to project all the special teams players on the 49ers roster, so I thought I would add the salary cap information for the players we can either expect on special teams units, or who will be competing primarily for a role on special teams. Many of these players will not make the roster, and I might have missed some, but this is ordered by 2015 cap number.
