The San Francisco 49ers kick off their 2015 preseason schedule on August 15, but the team will be in the preseason news before then. The Pro Football Hall of Fame will induct the 2015 class on Saturday, August 8, and that class will include Charles Haley.
The one-time 49ers and Cowboys pass rusher will join Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, Bill Polian, Junior Seau, Will Shields, Mick Tingelhoff, and Ron Wolf in receiving enshrinement at Canton. Haley will be introduced by former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo. This was initially reported back in May, but the Pro Football Hall of Fame made it official last week. This marks DeBartolo's fifth time as a presenter for the Hall of Fame. He presented head coach Bill Walsh in 1993, quarterback Joe Montana in 2000, defensive end Fred Dean in 2008, and wide receiver Jerry Rice in 2010.
Hopefully in the near future, DeBartolo will have somebody presenting him for his own induction. If he ever does get voted in, I could see Carmen Policy presenting him. I don't know that they are super close at this point in their lives, but at the height of the 49ers greatness, DeBartolo and Policy were attached at the hip. Hopefully we get to see this one day soon.
