The San Francisco 49ers will kick off their training camp schedule on August 1 with a practice at Levi's Stadium. This being less than a fortnight away, most of the stories we see are focused on which new players (and in the 49ers case, coaches) will make an impact heading into the season. Most of the eyes are on coach Jim Tomsula and the direction that his coaching staff will bring to the team. Colin Kaepernick's "new" mechanics will also continue to be a story.
The contributions of new veterans like Torrey Smith, Reggie Bush, etc. will also be intriguing to see develop. I'm especially anxious to know if Kap-to-Torrey will be a signature connection throughout the season. How good Carlos Hyde, Michael Wilhoite, and the many options at DL and CB can replace departing veterans will also be noteworthy. The most intriguing though is how well one Bradley Pinion performs. It's not every day that an all-universe player like Andy Lee is traded away to make room for a rookie, so Pinion definitely and literally has huge shoes to fill.
