49ers training camp reporting dates made official

New, comments

Rookies will report on July 27 and veterans will report on July 31 for 49ers training camp.

Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL formally announced the starting dates for all 32 NFL training camps on Tuesday. We already know the San Francisco 49ers will have their first practice on August 1. Now we know that rookies will report on July 27, and veterans will report on July 31.

The NFL CBA dictates veterans cannot be required to report earlier than 15 days prior to the team's first scheduled preseason game. All players are allowed to spend time at the facility before the reporting date, but it must be voluntary. We'll hear some rumblings of players returning before then, but those will be the big days to watch out for.

This all means we are 20 days from rookies and quarterbacks arriving, 24 days from veterans arriving, and 25 days from the first practice of 2015 training camp. I think it is safe to say we can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
