The 49ers start their 2015 season this Saturday night against the Houston Texans. According to Jim Tomsula, the starters are expected to play about a quarter of this game. The best news is that LB NaVorro Bowman will play for the 1st time since his knee injury he sustained in Seattle. It will be good to see how he looks and feels playing after a year and a half out of game action.
This game will be the 1st time to see the new offense that Geep Chryst has planned for this year. We will be able to see if Kap's new mechanics are visible in live game action. He spent all offseason working on his mechanics. Will they hold up in a game? It's a big year for Kap after he took steps back last year. While it doesn't fall all on him, people will want to see him prove himself as a quarterback and earn the potentially big contract he signed last year.
A new defensive scheme will be on display as well. With Eric Mangini at the helm, the team is expected to blitz much more this season than in past seasons. A new era without defensive stalwarts Willis and the Smith Brothers will begin, but the defensive talent is still there. Nick Moody is reportedly taking the opportunity that Willis' retirement gave him and having an excellent training camp. The defense will have to generate pressure without the Smiths and using confusion could be the way to do it.
The season is finally here! Football is back!
