49ers vs. Cowboys, Preseason Week 2: The return to Levi's Stadium

We're back for more preseason football! The San Francisco 49ers host the Dallas Cowboys, in the first game at Levi's Stadium since the 49ers wrapped up the 2014 season. This matchup of long-time rivals is the first preseason game between them since 2009. Since then, they have met twice in the regular season, with the 49ers winning in 2014, and the Cowboys winning in 2011.

The 49ers shook off some of the rust in their first preseason game, and are back to build on it. There are plenty of storylines that are further developing. Jarryd Hayne had a big first game, and will look to build on it in Week 2. Keith Reaser and Kenneth Acker both got bumped up the depth chart in practice this past week. It remains to be seen what kind of work they will get against the Cowboys, but it would seem like an opportunity is arising for them.

The starters will likely receive more work, but I would not be surprised if it was still less than we are seeing from other teams. Jim Tomsula frequently says, "We know what he can do" when talking about veterans on the team. Reggie Bush and Vernon Davis both sat out the first preseason game. I would not be surprised if at least Bush did again in Week 2. NaVorro Bowman and Darnell Dockett both sat out as well. They are both coming off ACL injuries, so maybe we see them get some kind of preseason action before the four games are up.

We'll have plenty to break down after the game, but for now, here's your first game thread. Along with it is a rundown of pertinent information related to the game.
