NFL Network to broadcast 49ers-Chargers preseason game live

The San Francisco 49ers have been left to local TV through their first three preseason games. Good news though, as NFL Network will be picking up the local broadcast of their preseason finale against the Chargers.

Good news San Francisco 49ers fans! After thinking all four preseason games would only be airing locally, it turns out there is a chance. The 49ers preseason finale against the San Diego Chargers will air locally in the Bay Area and San Diego, but the feed will be picked up by NFL Network for a live broadcast next Thursday night.

I was poking around the NFL Network schedule page trying to find out when the 49ers-Broncos game would re-broadcast on NFL Network. I ended up on Thursday, and I noticed it said 49ers-Chargers live broadcast. I inquired with NFL Network PR folks, and they confirmed that yes indeed, the game will air on NFL Network Thursday night.

The game kicks off at 7 p.m. PT, so be ready for that. I'm glad it will be broadcast nationally, but I am never pleased about the ridiculous start time of the 49ers annual fourth preseason game. It always is in California, often against the Chargers. A 10 p.m. ET start means things wrap up around 1 a.m. in Washington, D.C. No bueno. But, I sacrifice!

And for those wondering when you can watch 49ers-Broncos on NFL Network, here is the re-broadcast schedule:

August 29 - 9 p.m. PT
August 31 - 9 p.m.
September 1 - 1 p.m.
