49ers vs. Broncos, Preseason Week 3: The game before first roster cuts

The 49ers open the second half of their 2015 preseason schedule with a road game against the Denver Broncos. We take a look at pertinent details related to the game, as well as provide an open thread for discussion.

We're back for a third preseason football game! The San Francisco 49ers have traveled to Colorado to face the Denver Broncos in Week 3 of the 2015 preseason. This matchup marks the 37th time they have met in the preseason. They of course have one postseason matchup in franchise history when the 49ers beat them 55-10 in the Super Bowl. You know, just in case anybody forgot.

The third preseason game is viewed by many as a dress rehearsal for the regular season. We can expect to see the starters get a lot of action, but I would not expect to see them more than maybe midway through the second quarter. After that, we'll see plenty of backups.

Two of the big stories will be Jarryd Hayne and Mike Purcell. They have emerged on special teams/offense and defense, respectively. This could be their biggest shot at securing a roster spot. The fourth preseason game provides opportunities, but big games today could be difference-makers for them.

We'll have plenty to break down after the game, but for now, here's your first game thread. Along with it is a rundown of pertinent information related to the game.
