Golden Nuggets: Let the contact begin

Day 4 and the 1st padded practice of Niners training camp occurred Tuesday. According to reports, the Niners defensive line continues to be the star of the show. With the offensive line losing 2 starters from last season, the defensive line has capitalized. They have consistently harassed the quarterback. They are still the strongest unit on the team.

The 1st day of padded practice gave everyone the 1st look at Jarryd Hayne in a contact practice. The former Australian rugby star took his 1st hit from Nick Moody in a blitz pickup drill and he faired well. He held his ground against a LB looking to take over for Patrick Willis, which bodes well for Hayne. There was 2 crews of Australian media watching their former star try his hand at a new sport.

Today, the team heads back to Levi's Stadium for their 2nd padded practice. They are expecting 40,000 fans to attend. They head back to the stadium after having to deal with field issues from the 1st 2 practices. It will be interesting to see if the offense can find a way to win a day against this still stout defense. All this hinges on the offensive line performing well. They have a lot of work to do.
