This situation might officially be about to get just a little bit confusing. Aldon Smith was able to make his $26,000 bail Friday morning, and he was spotted leaving jail. A KTVU reporter tweeted this out just a bit ago:
#49er #AldonSmith looked somber leaving jail. He told me "it wasn't a DUI...the truth will come out." #KTVU pic.twitter.com/gi1IC65dYE

I'd certainly hope it would not be a DUI, but it's hard to give him the benefit of the doubt right now. He was booked on a DUI according to Santa Clara police, so I am not entirely sure what Aldon is talking about. Maybe he refused a field sobriety test and was booked accordingly? Or maybe he just wasn't drunk? Or maybe he's just not telling the truth. Who knows, but it is something we'll find out in the near future.
Mike Silver made an appearance on NFL Network, having spoken with Jed York following news of Smith's arrest. According to Silver, York said no decision has been made yet as to Smith's future with the team. Given the confusion surrounding the situation, I would assume the 49ers are waiting on more information before issuing a formal statement, or making a roster decision.
