Fooch's update: I have decided we'll turn this into our open thread for Saturday's Hall of Fame ceremony. The ceremony kicks off at 4 p.m. PT, but I am not sure when Haley goes on. Viewing and streaming information is located below.
The 2015 NFL season is just around the corner, and this weekend marks another major benchmark. It is induction weekend in Canton, Ohio at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. On Saturday evening, legends of the game will be formally enshrined at 4 p.m. PT for the public as the class of 2015. On Sunday evening, the Hall of Fame Game takes place in Canton, featuring the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Saturday's enshrinement ceremony should be a big deal for San Francisco 49ers fans. Former pass rushing great Charles Haley will be inducted. He split his career between the 49ers and Dallas Cowboys, and was one of the most feared pass rushers in NFL history.
As a serious added bonus for 49ers fans, he will be presented by former owner Eddie DeBartolo. That means Eddie D will give a brief speech introducing Haley, and welcome him to the stage following a highlight video. After that, Haley will have his time to speak. Given his tumultuous career and the things he acknowledges learning over the years, it should be a great speech.
The ceremony starts at 4 p.m. PT on Saturday, airing on ESPN. You can stream it live on WatchESPN. I have not seen a formal order for inductees. If it is alphabetical, Haley would be third on the list. We'll have an open thread later today for the ceremony, and hopefully we can find some video after the fact with Haley's speech.
Date/time: Saturday, 4 p.m. PT
Venue: Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, Canton, Ohio
