Golden Nuggets: And football is here! Just not for the 49ers

Friday, September 11th, 2015 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning everyone! Football is back! The Pittsburgh Steelers took on the New England Patriots on Thursday and that was a pretty fine game overall, I thought. Of course, fans of the San Francisco 49ers will have to wait until Monday to see their team play, as they'll be taking on the Minnesota Vikings under the bright lights of Monday Night Football.

And so ends a hellish, awful offseason for the 49ers and so begins ... a hellish awful regular season for the 49ers! Wooh! I'm joking, of course, but I legitimately have no idea what's going to happen when the 49ers play the Vikings on Monday. I think Minnesota is going to be a good team this year, which means I don't think a loss on Monday would necessarily suggest the 49ers are going to be terrible or anything.

It's going to be a weird, weird Monday. But first: we've got a boring Friday with no football. Boo.

As an aside, I'd like to note that going forward the links for the Nuggets will no longer open in a new tab. Turns out, most people don't like that so if you're used to that, and you want to open in a new tab or window, right click on the link or use whatever shortcut works for your operating system. That's been your boring site update for the day. (Note, there is a strong chance that muscle memory will mean I forget this on some links -- the big thing here is that we're phasing that out going forward).Onto your links!
