1 days until 49ers kickoff: Who wore it best? Who wears it now?

The San Francisco season starts in 1 day! We take a look at jersey No. 1, worn during a low point in 49ers history.

The San Francisco 49ers kick off the 2015 NFL regular season on Monday Night Football, on September 14. That game. means San Francisco is now a mere 1 day away from kicking off its 2015 regular season. In the spirit of that approaching date, I thought I would steal this idea from our Oakland Raiders site.

Who wore it best: QB Troy Smith (2010)

Might as well close on a high note! The Troy Smith era was a rough and tumble one for 49ers fans. He ended up in a brief quarterback controversy with Alex Smith and David Carr in the low point of the post-Erickson, pre-Harbaugh period. The 2005-2010 period had some high moments, but most of 2010 was not part of that. The 2006 Heisman Trophy winner spent four years in the NFL, finishing up the bulk of his time with the 49ers. He would spend some time in the UFL and CFL, and an offseason workout program with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

More importantly, this marks the end of our countdown. We actually did not get this started until No. 82, but you can go back through them all in this storystream. There were plenty of obvious numbers, and plenty of random ones. Nobody has worn No. 0, so this marks the end of our journey! It's football time!
