Monday marked the first victory of the new Jim Tomsula era in San Francisco. The 49ers beat the Minnesota Vikings 20-3, and that means we got a behind-the-scenes look at the coach's post-game victory speech. The folks at 49ers.com get video of the speeches after victories. Normally they simply post them at 49ers.com. This week they tweeted out speech video. You can watch speech above.
There is nothing flashy about it, but it oozes Jim Tomsula's personality. We hear a shout-out for "Jimmy T's first win!" and quickly deflects to them. Then, at the end of the speech when the players ask him to break it down, he just returns it to them. We get a simple 1, 2, 3 Niners! and that's it.
Jim Tomsula's a simple guy, and as such, he keeps things simple with his job. I can definitely get behind that. And I think other folks are going to get behind it the more this team wins. Earlier today, Deadspin posted something about how Tomsula should be your favorite head coach. If the 49ers keep this up, national media will be tripping over themselves to write up glowing features about Jim Tomsula. Given what we know about his personality, if this team keeps winning, it is the most predictable thing we can expect this season.
