Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

After the less than stellar offseason that the 49ers went through, the team came out on Monday night  and put on a show that takes away some of the worries fans had. Debuting a new coaching staff and a younger team, the performance on the field highlighted the talent the team has and a potential bright future.

There was a lot of great play from the team on Monday. Carlos Hyde stole the show at Levi's. Replacing the legend that is Frank Gore, Hyde showed patience and vision to torch the Vikings for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns. The ability we saw is the reason the Niners were fine with letting Gore leave. Colin Kaepernick played a good game. He didn't put up great numbers, but he made plays to keep drives alive. The coaching staff gave him the game plan that plays to his ability and it showed. If he is able to complete passes in the red zone for touchdowns, the 49ers could have a good season.

On defense, NaVorro Bowman was flying around. He gave the fans a scare when he came out for a play, but he came back immediately to relieve that fear. The defensive line played well and they showed the depth they have. Holding Peterson to 31 yards is no easy task, but they bottled him up and he never looked dangerous. The new DC, Eric Mangini dialed up the blitzes and the Niners got to Teddy Bridgewater. Five different players had sacks and they continually forced him to move. The defense looked different compared to years past, but they still look elite.

The team now have a quick turnaround. They head to Pittsburgh to face the 0-1 Steelers. Let's see if they can keep the momentum going.

As an aside, I'd like to note that going forward the links for the Nuggets will no longer open in a new tab. Turns out, most people don't like that so if you're used to that, and you want to open in a new tab or window, right click on the link or use whatever shortcut works for your operating system. That's been your boring site update for the day. (Note, there is a strong chance that muscle memory will mean I forget this on some links -- the big thing here is that we're phasing that out going forward). Onto your links!
